Institute of Clinical Research India (ICRI) which already offers
clinical research courses at its campus located at Delhi, Ahmedabad,
Mumbai, Bangalore is now set to offer its courses in four new cities.
New institutes are to be set up at Hyderabad, Calcutta, Chennai and
Chandigarh and these are expected to function from April 2008. There is
already a tough competition among the institutes offering clinical
research courses and it seems that ICRI has a little advantage over the
others by offering M.Sc in clinical research, which no other institute
in India is offering currently.
There is a huge potential for clinical research in India, outsourcing
possibilities are quite high here. Is the scenario same as that which
existed about four years ago?
CT Industry started blooming then and institutes like ICRI seemed to
produce the required CR professionals. But a training institute is not
all that is sufficient to make India meet the standards.
Also there are several institutes coming up in every major metro and the
cost of these courses are coming down gradually, with the rising
competition, will the CT boom face a downfall like the one faced by the
IT industry?
Well.. there is a saying "Early bird get the crumb". And I have heard
another one too "The second mouse gets the cheese"
Which ever the case be, hope one doesn't be a loser.
