DCGI - FDC issue -Latest update

In a latest move to eradicate the irrational FDCs, the DCGI has seeked
from the industrial associations like OPPI, IPA, IDMA, CIPI, a list of
FDC drugs which the industry would voluntarily remove from the market.

In an initial phase, the drugs common in the list from the industries
and the DCGI's office will be recalled and for the rest of the drugs,
the DCGI will take the assistance from Pharmacoepia commission.

CIPI has already made a list of around 110 drugs (most of them belonging
to the banned, absurd and rejected category) its members are willing to
voluntarily withdraw from the market if the DCGI allows them to
manufacture and market the rest of the contentious 294 FDC drugs.

Although the eradication process moving in a slow pace (for various
reasons) this recent move is certainly promising to kick start the
withdrawl of irrational FDCs.
